GRANADA wouldn't have been able to sustain the repeated onslaughts of its enemies without a complex and solid network of walls.

The map below charts the known network of walls and the main gates which connected the city proper to the territory around it. If you believe it, the walls covered something like 10 kilometers. It covered not only the Albayzin, but also the whole city in the valley, and went as far as Bib-Rambla and the river Genil.

There are two sections of walls which remain well kept and highly visible : the wall going from San Miguel Alto to the Sacramonte (photo below), and the walls from the Albayzin to the Triunfo (first photo).
